Dairiboard Charity Shield - Inaugural 2001
2001 Champions - Highlanders

The Charity Shield was reintroduced this year with the Premier Soccer League securing a three-year sponsorship for the cup from Dairyboard. The sponsorship of $2m a year makes the Charity Shield the most lucrative knockout cup in the league, surpassing the $1.5m Madison Trophy.

The top four teams in last season’s final PSL standings, namely Highlanders, AmaZulu, Dynamos and Railstars, contested for the Dairyboard Charity Shield. This format was for this season only as the tournament is meant to pit the winners of the league and the winners of the ZIFA Cup. Last year the ZIFA Cup was not played.
