Competition procedures

The knockout competition is contested by the current 16 PSL teams with last year's top eight teams seeded in the First Round draw pitting them against those who finished lower - including the promoted team(s).

The same principle applies in the quarterfinals, but the seeding system is not used at the semi-final stage. After the draw, a mechanism, like tossing a coin, will be used to determine which team plays at home.

In the event of a draw, extra time is added with no golden goal rule applicable.

If there is still no winner at the end of 120 minutes, a penalty shootout determines the team that progresses to the next round.

The same applies in the final where there are no replays in the event of a draw.
