Lial, brother to Jairo Lial who is assistant to Bafana coach Carlos Alberto Parreira, was appointed head coach of Usuthu on January 29 2007. He takes over from assistant coach Reggie Shelembe who was caretaker after the departure of Clive Barker on November 29 2006.
Lial is a former coach of the Brazilian Under-20 team.
Well-celebrated coach Ted Dimitru who was appointed technical director on December 11 2006 continues in his role.
