The 3rd FIFA Confederations Cup 2001

May 30 - June 10, 2001, Japan and South Korea

2001 Champions: France

France beat hosts Japan 1-0 in the finals of the Confederations Cup 2001 edition.

The competition brings together the respective champions of FIFA's regional confederations and this year takes on the guise of a "mini World Cup" to be used by national coaches for fine-tuning their teams for the World Cup.

This year's edition was co-hosted by Japan and South Korea who are also hosts for the World Cup finals.

The eight teams were split into two four-team round-robin groups, with the top two in each group advancing to the semifinals.
