The Finals
18 March - 1 April 2001, Ethiopia
2001 Champions - Angola
The Under-20 African Championship is held every two years and is the CAF qualifying stage for the FIFA World Youth Championship first held in 1977.
Until 1989 the African representatives were determined purely on a qualifying basis with no African title on the line. Since 1991 there has been a qualifying stage and then a final tournament played by 8 teams in a chosen country.
The four semi-finalists qualified for the 2001 World Youth Championship in Argentina.
