1999 Champion: Orlando Pirates

Castle Premier League giants, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, met two of the best football sides in Africa in the second Vodacom Challenge.

Following a late withdrawal by the African Champions League holders, Raja Casablanca of Morocco, Chiefs and Pirates tackled Zimbabwe's Dynamos and Africa Sports from Côte d'Ivoire, African Cup Winners Cup holders.

Last year's tournament pitted the two South African teams against Espérance of Tunisia and Côte d'Ivoire's ASEC Mimosas.
