The South African B soccer team, under the guidance of coach Ephraim "Shakes" Mashaba, was invited to participate in a tournament to celebrate the opening of the Mali's new stadium in Bamako.

South Africa lost 2-0 to Mali in their first match on Friday October 12, coming back with a 2-2 tie against Gambia on Sunday. Nkosinathi Nhleko scored a brace in that match to celebrate a welcome return to form for the burly 22 year-old.

A total of 16 players made up the squad for the matches held at the new March 26th Stadium in Bamako.

The squad included veteran internationals Phil Masinga and Helman Mkhalele, who are currently both without clubs and in need of match practice.
